Welcome to the December 2023 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
Happy holidays! As 2023 wraps up, I want to thank you and our entire Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Family for making it such a rewarding, successful year filled with so many wonderful accomplishments, achievements, research and of course – people.
As you and yours embark on a Ful-BRIGHT festive season, we hope it will be filled with peace, health, prosperity and joy!
We also hope you’ll enjoy diving into the December Fulbright REVIEW, which highlights some of those very people and reflects back on some of our biggest triumphs of the year.
First, let’s kick things off with this student-produced video featuring folks across campus singing the classic “Jingle Bells” to spread good cheer.
Then, get to know an award-winning African and African American Studies scholar, U of A’s fantastic 2023 Family of the Year, and the winners of our annual Three-Minute Thesis Competition!
You can also check out some of our major accomplishments this year, which included opening our phenomenal Studio and Design Center, becoming home to a new student chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and expanding our Data Science curriculum and partnerships.
You can also see how we helped multiple outstanding students make their educational dreams come true with scholarships, welcomed more than 1,900 new alumni during this weekend’s commencement ceremony, and celebrated the retirement of an amazing student-focused staff member.
We also hope you’ll enjoy these festive campus photos, check out our student-run record label’s latest EP, and learn more about the recent Africa in Iberia symposium we hosted.
Afterward, take a trip to El Dorado with this class to explore geological resources, save the date for upcoming courses and events centered on the Holocaust, and see how this scientist may have found a source for clean and limitless energy!
Next, help congratulate these legal communications students who won a national award, these humanities scholars who won competitive research funding, and these amazing faculty who earned impressive national teaching credentials.
You can also help celebrate a professor who won a distinguished award for classics teaching and service, congratulate this staff member who won an award for innovative problem-solving, and cheer on this scientist working to prevent invasive species damage.
Finally, help us commemorate the life of a beloved professor who served the college and our community for more than 35 years as a social worker.
And, if you’d like to learn more about the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter / X, Instagram or LinkedIn social media channels. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all.
