It’s another fantastic February here in our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences – which means it’s a phenomenal time to spread good cheer and love!

And the way we enjoy doing that the most is by sharing stories of student success, wonderful research breakthroughs, new creative endeavors, and so much more with you, our Fulbright College family.

In this February 2024 edition of the Fulbright REVIEW we are also very excited to introduce the three finalists for the role of our next permanent dean and share how you can watch their presentations.

We’re also celebrating and highlighting Black History Month, sharing why our U of A is such a great place to call home, producing amazing future leaders, and helping more of our students study abroad than ever before!

Two of our music researchers also just won a prestigious National Endowment for the Arts grant, our awesome School of Social Work has a new home here on the Hill, and 12 of our students, faculty and alumni were selected for Artists 360 Awards.

You can also check out a double photo feature of campus life, congratulate the outstanding eight young alumni who were recently commissioned into the United States Army, and listen to KUAF’s newest multimedia series.

In other news, our University Libraries will soon unveil the results of several renovations, our Main Hill Media student-run advertising agency was named Best of Show at a national convention, and we’ve launched a new peer-reviewed journal.

We hope you’ll also help us congratulate a talented student who was accepted into The Newberry Library undergraduate seminar, these students who are among the top 10 in the nation in speech and debate, and these students who took top honors at the International Model United Nations.

You can also meet a young alumnus who loved the U of A so much they’re returning for grad school, a double major who just returned from a year abroad studying in Germany, and a physics researcher who won a $904,000 grant!

Then, check out this fascinating research on how predator mass mortality events affect food webs, this study that defined aquatic communities to help ecosystem management, and these findings that could provide clearer guidelines for climate-related decision making.

Next, listen to our latest Short Talks from the Hill podcast on political civility, help us send best wishes to a long-time colleague heading off to new adventures, and meet a professor who just won two distinguished awards for outstanding research, teaching and mentorship.

Afterward, help congratulate this faculty member who won a national Rookie Advisor of the Year Award and one of our exceptional advising leaders who was recently named an Employee of the Quarter!

Finally, on the publication front, check out this monograph on 20th-century French literature, a new translation of an esteemed Lebanese writer’s work, and this award-winning book exploring historic Italian proverbs.
