Welcome to the September 2023 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog

The weather is finally starting to cool, football is back, and campus is bustling with activity – sounds like we’re in for another fantastic fall here in Fayetteville!

To me, this is always the most magical time of year at our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

And, we’re excited to share it with you, along with all the latest news on our wonderful students, awesome alumni, stellar research, and so much more right here in the September edition of our Fulbright REVIEW.

To kick things off, let’s take a deep dive into all things Razorback Marching Band by meeting our four new drum majors, the band’s new director and assistant director, and getting the details on a special pregame tradition we’re reviving.

You can also check out these gorgeous photos of our first weeks back on The Hill, as we welcomed a record 32,000 students to the U of A!

Then, meet our new and returning associate deans, and find out how our new Inclusive Excellence framework will help us better embody the college’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Afterward, learn about a breakthrough we made in harnessing clean power, a new film showcasing the multitude of accents in Arkansas, and the discoveries our students made about a local theatre’s history.

We also recently broke ground on a new one-of-its-kind semiconductor facility, had three students selected for a prestigious emerging scholars program, and one of our college leaders was named an SEC leadership fellow!

Members of our faculty also launched a new soccer-centric blog, won an award of excellence for their short film, and – after the hottest summer in living memory – received a grant to study the heatwave’s effects on biodiversity.

We’ve also been helping an alumnus celebrate a groundbreaking NASA anniversary, and cheering on another alumna who used her writing degree as a springboard for a career in IT services.

Additionally, you can check out how we are helping dentists better handle children’s anxiety, how we use geospatial data to uncover insights into humanity’s past, and what the Amazon River can tell us about climate change.

Afterward, help congratulate a musician named a 2023 Jazz Roads Creative, the author of an arts integration case study on Fayetteville Roots, and a professor named an AIGA Year in Design winner!

Finally, if you’d like to learn more about the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our FacebookTwitter / X, Instagram or LinkedIn social media channels. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all.
