Welcome to the September 2019 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
While the weather may still be warm, we are gearing up for a wonderful fall here at the U of A’s J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. And, as always, we’re so excited to share the newest edition of the Fulbright REVIEW with you – our Fulbright Family!
This issue is jam-packed full of stories highlighting student success, our awesome alumni, stellar research, and so much more.
Start by checking out this great story about two of our international and global studies majors who recently scored amazing, highly competitive internships with the U.S. State Department.
Then visit the U of A’s newest residence halls, which feature several Living Learning Communities – all with an emphasis on the arts and innovation.
Afterward, learn more about this amazing science-based game that explains the concepts related to cell biology and bioenergetics – it was created by an interdisciplinary team of our students and faculty!
On a more serious note, one of the most pressing topics in our society today, sexual assault, will be the focus of this year’s One Book, One Community discussion, led by our faculty experts.
Our faculty, students and friends also have been benefitting from access to the first news footage from the archive of Little Rock’s ABC television affiliate, KATV – now available for public viewing and searching.
Also be sure to meet our School of Art’s new executive director, the first graduates of the German-engineering dual degree program, and this talented alumnus who recently traveled to Costa Rica and New Zealand to research his current book-in-progress!
And, my team would be upset with me if I didn’t mention that after completing a successful recent performance review process, I have been reappointed to another five-year term as dean of our own J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences!
We’re so excited for the year ahead, to keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu continuously, and to keep showcasing the most interesting features in our monthly email round ups so you never miss the inside scoop.
We hope you’ll stay tuned and continue to enjoy the blog. And, if you have a great story idea or know someone you’d like for us to feature, please email us at fulbcomm@uark.edu or submit your own post.
Sincerely,
Todd Shields, Dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
