Welcome to the November 2021 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog

Nothing makes me more thankful than being able to connect with our amazing students, our phenomenal faculty and staff, and our outstanding alumni, donors and community members.

So ultimately, what I’m most grateful for here in our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is YOU – our Fulbright College family!

And this November edition of the Fulbright REVIEW is packed full of features on some of the impactful gifts, impressive scholarship recipients, ground-breaking research and fantastic people who’ve made our college such an incredible place to be.

To kick things off, meet Govind Joshi, Grace Carmack and Tori Cooper, who thanks to three scholarships and the donors who created them, are each one step closer to making their education and career dreams come true!

Then, meet 12 students, faculty and alumni who are recipients of the 2021 Artists 360 Awards and a young alumna who is passionate about breaking down mental health care stigmas.

Next, meet a couple whose generosity is changing the face of our radio broadcast program, a nine-time Emmy Award-winning documentarian, and a graduate student who recently debuted her new film.

Be sure to also check out our new Windgate Art and Design Center, which reached a big milestone recently, and learn about a new graduate-level art education program that is the first of its kind in the state of Arkansas!

Afterward, congratulate an alumna who was recognized as Big of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas and see what this year’s Arkansas Poll revealed about our economy, healthcare and politics.

Then, join us in honoring the culture, history, and triumphs of Indigenous peoples during National Native American Heritage Month, and learn how you can be a part of the U of A Museum’s upcoming new online community exhibit.

In other research news, see how our physicists are collaborating with Naval researchers to develop new night vision technology, and how our geoscientists are studying the effects of climate change on Arctic watersheds.

Additionally, get the details on our collaboration with Arkansas State Parks on a historic digital mapping project, and meet a scientist who discovered two new species, a skink and a fish, dating back to the Early Cretaceous Period!

Finally, if you’d like to learn more about all the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.

And, as always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.

In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!

Sincerely,
