Welcome to the May 2023 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
It’s commencement season, one of my favorite times of the year when we get to celebrate all that a place like our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences stands for!
While commencement is certainly a major milestone for our new graduates, it is also one for us all. Because each year we work toward it together, doing everything we can to help our students succeed in their education and life beyond.
So, cheers to all our students, faculty, staff, and greater campus community for reaching the spring 2023 commencement milestone!
In this month’s Fulbright REVIEW we showcase some of our phenomenal new graduates and the folks who’ve helped them on their journey. So be sure to check it out and meet them all.
To kick things off, see how we celebrated commencement and meet the trio who are now our first-ever data sciences alumni!
Then, meet a master’s graduate who was an amazing part of our college’s communications team, and a student entrepreneur who is getting a jump start on his sports entertainment career.
Next, meet a blossoming student leader and environmental activist, two students who won prestigious reporting internships, and our newest Italian and Spanish honor society members.
This month, we also celebrated 33 faculty retirees who have more than 1,000 years of combined service, and named two new assistant deans who are focused on advancing student success and inclusive excellence!
Afterward, check out our investiture recap, help honor Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and learn more about our interactive kiosk exhibit exploring renowned architect Fay Jones’ work.
Additionally, see how our new Studio and Design Center is making art careers available, explore the feasibility of growing rice on Mars, and discover our diversity, equity and inclusion resources.
On the faculty front, meet a historian who is a 2023 Pushkin Prize finalist, a mathematical scientist representing the U.S. in underwater hockey, and a musician who joined Yo-Yo Ma in two immersive concerts!
You can also meet the faculty awardees recently honored by the Provost’s Office, and the psychological science researchers who are helping us better address gaps in care in autistic youths’ lives.
Then, get to know three music students who won trumpet scholarships, the students who recently presented at legal communication conferences, and an outstanding honors mentor.
