Welcome to the March 2019 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog

by | Mar 18, 2019 | Announcements, Dean's Corner

As winter finally becomes spring, we’re excited to share all of the wonderful things happening this month and beyond at the U of A’s J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences!

You can read about many of the amazing events, projects and people who make up our Fulbright Family right here in the Fulbright REVIEW.

March is Women’s History Month and we are so proud of the inaugural “SHE, A Festival of Women in Music” series, highlighting the vital role women play in the field of music – be sure to check it out!

You can also meet an amazing alumna who wants to create opportunities to pay it forward to the next generation of students who love anthropology.

Then, sign up to see best-selling author Angie Thomas, who wrote The Hate U Give, when she comes to Fayetteville to speak and share a screening of the hit movie based on her book.

Be sure to spend some time with this physicist who just received a prestigious NSF CAREER award, for research that could affect digital technology, solar energy and quantum computing.

And, did you know that the University of Arkansas Museum is part of Fulbright College and its collection of several million objects span the fields of archeology, ethnology, history, geology, zoology and more?

Also, this year marks the 100th anniversary of Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapato’s death. We’ll soon be hosting an international exhibit and events to commemorate it!

In March, we also hosted a huge conference with more than 400 student musician saxophonists and 130 events – meet the instructor and six students who helped make it happen.

Then see how one of our journalism faculty members draws on her time working for The Associated Press on the U.S. Supreme Court beat to help students connect to awesome jobs and internships.

And learn why this English professor is an advocate for digital literacies and loves a good story, especially if it features Frankenstein!

Our staff are also up to great things – like this academic advisor who is helping hundreds of students on their path to graduation. We hope you enjoy meeting him!

And as always, remember that more new stories are posted at fulbrightreview.uark.edu continuously, and our monthly email round ups will keep showcasing the most interesting features so you never miss the inside scoop.

We hope you’ll stay tuned, and continue to enjoy the blog. And, if you have a great story idea or know someone you’d like for us to feature, please email us at fulbcomm@uark.edu or submit your own post.

Sincerely,

Todd Shields, Dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
