Welcome to the March 2022 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog

by | Mar 14, 2022 | Announcements, Dean's Corner, Uncategorized

It’s March and despite several severe weather days here in Fayetteville, the first signs of spring are finally appearing! It always feels like so much potential lies ahead this time of year.

And while I am also deeply unsettled by current world events unfolding in Ukraine right now, I am truly amazed at the courage, resilience, and fortitude shown by the Ukrainian people and folks across the world who are lending their support.

So many members of our own Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences family are continuously working hard to create a brighter, kinder, and more just world for us all. And one of the things I know for sure is just how amazingly creative, innovative and full of grit our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are!

March is Women’s History Month, and in this edition of the Fulbright REVIEW we’re proud to feature a virtual music festival and more to recognize and honor the phenomenal women of Fulbright College – including one who debuted a new solo art exhibition, and one who creates meaningful learning goals for our students.

You’ll also want to meet this freshman advertising and public relations major who will be presenting at the largest gathering of high school journalists in the country, and this honors art history major who has been poring over dirty books to kickstart graduate-level study of illuminated manuscripts.

Then, be sure to meet our fantastic new Honors Program director, and a history alumna who is one of only 10 teachers selected for the ARTeacher Fellowship to integrate the arts into her classroom!

You can also learn more about the first ever EP release from our student-run record label, Hill Records, and get to know 13 of our students and alumni who were named semi-finalists for the Fulbright U.S. Student Scholarship Program.

This spring, we launched a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Student Ambassador Program, opened a new public music lab, and installed a new curvahedra sculpture on campus that grew from a fascinating interdisciplinary student and faculty project.

Additionally, one of our psychological sciences’ researchers is leading a team studying eyewitness confidence and accuracy, and the winner of a national award for innovation in math teaching recently shared his lesson exploring rotational symmetry with a group of future teachers.

If you’d like to learn more about the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.

As always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.

In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!

Sincerely,

Todd Shields
