Welcome to the March 2021 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog

by | Mar 14, 2021 | Announcements, Dean's Corner, Uncategorized

This March I can’t help but think back to where we were a year ago – on the precipice of a pandemic with so many unknowns facing us all.

But now, a year later, one of the things I know for sure is just how amazingly resilient, creative, innovative and full of grit our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are!

And this edition of the Fulbright REVIEW highlights some of their many awesome achievements – such as our very own Jeffrey Allen Murdock being named the 2021 Grammy Music Educator of the Year!

March is also Women’s History Month, and we’re proud to feature some outstanding stories, videos and events recognizing and honoring the phenomenal women of our Fulbright College Family. Read on for the full scoop!

Additionally, this edition features a new website about trailblazers who helped make the U of A more diverse and inclusive and a look back at the last 100 years of physics on campus.

Then, see how best friends from opposite sides of the political spectrum view Gen Z politics and meet a 29-year veteran of the University Bands program whose passion for music, love and support have helped hundreds of students succeed!

On the research front, one of our geologists has discovered how cold temperatures prevalent during glacial periods still have an impact today and one of our psychologists led a team of researchers who have found a link between DNA and marriage satisfaction in newlyweds.

You can also help us congratulate the Center for Ethics in Journalism’s new visiting distinguished professors and our four University of Arkansas Teaching Academy inductees!

Afterward, get the details on the RefleXions Music Series as it continues this spring with the Imani Woods quintet and learn about the U of A’s spring COVID safety protocols and upcoming commencement ceremonies.

Finally, help us commemorate the life of a Fulbright College graduate, who leaves behind a tremendous legacy, including the creation of our Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center, and so much more.

Additionally, if you’d like to learn more about all the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.

And, as always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.

In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!

Sincerely,

Todd Shields
Dean, Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
