Welcome to the July 2021 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
It’s a beautiful summer here in Fayetteville, and this July 2021 edition of the Fulbright REVIEW is full of fantastic stories about some of the many incredible things our students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends have been up to!
Summer is also the perfect time to focus on the outstanding Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences instructors, teachers and researchers who continue to give our students their all.
So, help us celebrate this health, family and social psychology researcher who won a prestigious early career award, and meet this faculty director who is thrilled for the return of live theatre!
Then, get to know the phenomenal 2021 winners of Fulbright College’s annual teaching, research and advising awards, and the honorees named 2020-21 Outstanding Faculty Members of the Year by the Associated Student Government and the Graduate Professional Student Congress.
You can also learn how to become a “citizen scientist” to work with our researchers on projects like observing and cataloging butterfly, tick and reptile populations, and check out the latest research on the way the polar caps of Mars formed.
On the event front, there’s still time to catch Matilda: The Musical, which features more than 25 of our faculty, students and alumni, and the 14th annual One Book, One Community project resumes this fall to highlight the connection between our multicultural society and the food we grow, prepare and eat.
In more awesome news, this fall our students will be able to seek degrees in English completely online, and an interactive visual narrative that immerses players in key events of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement recently won an international award!
Congratulations also go out to the four amazing students who received Critical Language Scholarships from the U.S. Department of State and a young alumnus who won an English teaching assistantship with the Fulbright U.S. Student Program!
Finally, help us commemorate the life of a beloved alumnus and friend of the college, who leaves behind a tremendous philanthropic legacy, supporting our own Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and so much more.
Afterward, if you’d like to learn more about all the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.
And, as always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.
In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!
Sincerely,
Todd Shields
