Welcome to the January 2022 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
As we adventure into 2022 together, I hope you and yours were able enjoy a restful and joyful holiday season and that the year ahead for you will be one filled with happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health!
One of the things that makes me happiest is connecting with our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences family, and one of my favorite ways to do that is by sharing each new edition of the Fulbright REVIEW.
This January 2022 Fulbright REVIEW showcases some of our many terrific students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community members whose perseverance, collaboration, caring and all-around excellence are making a huge positive impact – both here and far beyond.
First, be sure to meet Alyssa Martinez, Michelle Kamanga and Savannah Scott, who thanks to three scholarships and the donors who created them, are each one step closer to making their education and career dreams come true!
Then, get a behind the scenes glimpse at one student’s art portfolio described in her own words, listen to this new podcast to learn how to thrive in academia, and discover a new species of pangolin found at one of Eastern Europe’s most significant paleontological sites.
Next, see how a unique undergraduate degree is preparing our students to face some of the world’s biggest data-related challenges, and check out this lab that was awarded two grants to understand and expand services for families of color who have children on the autism spectrum.
Afterward, meet a student who wrote a poetic Frankenstein adaptation that reimagines the creature as a cancer, meet a professor who donated 22 rare books to the University Libraries, and meet an eclectic educator whose passions span science, art, architecture and the environment – and have taken him around the world!
You can also help celebrate the newest U of A faculty members to be inducted into the Arkansas Research Alliance Academy of Scholars and Fellows, and learn how KUAF, our local National Public Radio affiliate, was selected as a 2022 Report for America partner newsroom.
Additionally, learn about a new Razorback Marching Band leadership award for students who encourage and motivate their peers, and be sure to save the dates for this spring’s annual series of thought-provoking and fascinating Pryor Center Presents events, kicking off virtually on Jan. 24!
Finally, if you’d like to learn more about all the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.
And, as always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.
In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!
