Can you believe it? It’s already April and next month’s spring commencement at the U of A’s J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is fast approaching!

But before we wrap up the academic year, there are still so many amazing accomplishments, initiatives and stories to share – and you can read about many of them and the people who make up our Fulbright Family right here in the Fulbright REVIEW.

Make sure you don’t miss this story about one of our chemistry and biochemistry researchers who is helping to improve the speed and accuracy of cancer detection.

Then check out how the School of Social Work just won one of the U of A’s highest teaching honors, in recognition of the school’s collaboration, dedication to its students and commitment to the local community!

Join us in congratulating a physics professor who won a 2019 SEC Faculty Achievement Award for his record of extraordinary teaching and nationally recognized scholarship!

And help us toast to the success of the U of A team that won the national Certamen Classics College Quiz Bowl. One of the team’s students was also just elected to be the Eta Sigma Phi Classics Honorary Society’s national president!

Another congrats goes out to an alumnus who is an accomplished television producer, this year’s Department of Theatre Distinguished Alumnus and the theatre season preview’s keynote speaker. Don’t miss his Q&A to learn more!

Then, be sure to meet this honors political science junior, who is passionate about political activism, mentoring and helping fellow students succeed!

And, see how this geosciences leader, who has a passion for collecting rare books, makes the classroom experience challenging and fun!

Spend time getting to know this amazing School of Journalism and Strategic Media staff member, who has been an integral part of the U of A for 23 years.

Afterward, meet Georgia’s poet laureate – a proud alumna from our creative writing program!

And as always, remember that more new stories are posted at fulbrightreview.uark.edu continuously, and our monthly email round ups will keep showcasing the most interesting features so you never miss the inside scoop.

We hope you’ll stay tuned and continue to enjoy the blog. And, if you have a great story idea or know someone you’d like for us to feature, please email us at fulbcomm@uark.edu or submit your own post.

Sincerely,

Todd Shields, Dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences
