Welcome to the April 2021 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
Can you believe it? We are just a couple short weeks away from our spring commencement ceremonies!
And I have to say – our Class of 2021 are some of the most outstanding, resilient, determined and passionate students we’ve ever had!
In this April 2021 edition of the Fulbright REVIEW, you can meet some of these soon-to-be Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences alumni in a special Q&A roundup on reaching the commencement milestone despite the pandemic.
In other exciting student news, nine journalism students were recently honored for their work on a national investigation of homelessness, and one of our graduate students just won the U of A Three Minute Thesis competition!
Additionally, this honors international and global studies student just received a prestigious En Voz Alta Mentorship, and a new award-winning play by one of our theatre M.F.A. students will make its virtual streaming debut May 5.
You can also help us congratulate two of our outstanding academic advisors who won the 2021 Sage Advisor Award and the 2021 Leading with Brilliance Award and meet a graphic designer who is launching a podcast on the intersection of feminism and design this spring!
We’re also featuring a sneak peek at the team behind the efforts to restore and breathe new life into the campus’ historic and beloved Fine Arts Center.
On the research front, a $10.8 million NIH grant will enable researchers to address the role of cell and tissue metabolism in diseases and one of our psychology researchers received a $750,000 grant to study creative decision making under time constraints!
Additionally, our anthropology researchers are working to better understand the impact of climate change on vulnerable animals, while our sociology and criminology faculty are collaborating with a local police department to help its team better respond to and serve the community.
Finally, help us commemorate the life of a professor emeritus who enjoyed an impressive career in fisheries science, and honor the legacy of a longtime philanthropist who supported programs across the college and U of A campus.
Additionally, if you’d like to learn more about all the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.
