Park Returns as an Artist-in-Residence at Free University of Berlin
The Department of Music is delighted to announce associate professor of voice Moon-Sook Park’s second consecutive year as Artist-in-Residence at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. Park’s re-invitation for the upcoming tenure is scheduled from Oct. 3-15 this semester.
Park’s return is marked by her dedication to nurturing the academic and cultural growth of students majoring in Korean studies at the Free University of Berlin. By incorporating singing into language learning, she will equip the students with an effective cognitive mechanism to master the Korean language and its cultural nuances. Her workshop, titled “Guide for Performance and Study with Korean Art Songs,” strengthens the Free University of Berlin students’ connection to Korean culture while simultaneously honing their linguistic skills, including various poetic texts within the songs.
In addition to her educational efforts, Park will deliver a public speech, offering insights into her artistic journey and the cultural narratives in her scholarly work. The apex of her residency will be a captivating matinee concert that harmoniously blends German Lieder and Korean Art Songs, promising a meaningful experience that bridges musical traditions from around the globe.
Park’s commitment to nurturing cultural exchange and artistic excellence exemplifies the U of A’s dedication to global engagement.
