New Fund to Support Fulbright College Student Ambassadors
Inclusive excellence and student success have long been two key priorities in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
And a recent fundraising campaign to support the college’s Student Ambassadors continues to highlight these areas that are integral to the college’s mission of peace through education.
“We invite all friends of Fulbright College — current faculty, staff, and students, alumni, parents, and donors — to join this effort to ensure that Fulbright College continues creating transformational experiences and that the University of Arkansas remains an incredible opportunity for public education for all,” said Romona West, assistant dean for inclusive excellence and strategic initiatives.
A $10,000 fundraising goal has been set to support the college’s 20 Student Ambassadors. These ambassadors represent each of the college’s four academic disciplines — fine arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences — and engage in:
- Assisting in recruitment efforts and providing college tours to prospective students
- Sharing student experiences
- Student leadership and professional development programs
- Engaging with local experiences in the arts and sciences
- Outreach and community service
Funds given to the Fulbright College Student Ambassador Fund will provide $500 stipends to the 20 Student Ambassadors for the 2023-2024 academic year and support one year of comprehensive programming for the students.
“Every day, our students — especially these Student Ambassadors — are making a profound impact as they delve into new discoveries, engage in transformative experiences, champion inclusive excellence, and foster peace through education,” said Kathy Sloan, interim dean of Fulbright College.
“Contributions to this student fund make a substantial difference in achieving our vision of inclusive excellence, and we’re so grateful to those in the Fulbright College family who are helping make this vision a reality,” Sloan added.
