Moon-Sook Park

Moon-Sook Park, associate professor of vocal studies in the Department of Music, has been invited by the Freie Universität Berlin, in Berlin, Germany, to be an artist-in-residence from Oct. 3-14.

The invitation was extended by the Korean Studies Institute at the German university for Park to collaborate with faculty on a number of cultural and musical activities. One workshop with Korean studies students will focus on a “Guide for Performance and Study with Korean Art Songs.” There will be a public lecture and a recital with German Lieder and Korean art songs.

“I am very excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with the faculty members at the Korean Studies Institute at Freie Universität Berlin,” Park said. “It is one of the best educational institutes for East Asian studies in Europe, and I look forward to representing the University of Arkansas through my various activities as an artist-in-residence.”

The collaborative work with Korean Studies would add to Park’s continuing research and dissemination of Korean art songs.  The opportunity to accept the invitation of the university in Berlin will help further the study of historical music of Korea.
