Associate professor Theresa Delaplain has won first place in the 2025 American Prize in Instrumental Performance (Winds) competition.

The American Prize is a series of non-profit, national competitions designed to recognize and reward the very best in the performing arts in the United States. The American Prize was founded in 2009 and is awarded annually. The American Prize is judged solely through recorded performances. Competitors complete the application and submit recordings or links to recordings. Delaplain submitted links to one of her own compositions, The Voices, another to a multimedia work called Halfmoon at Checkerboard Mesa and two selections from her album Souvenirs.

Delaplain teaches oboe and music theory in the Music Department, is a member of the Lyrique Quintette, is a founding member of the SHE Festival of Women in Music and is a Lorée Artist.
