Each member of the induction cohort was presented with a graduation cord, a pin and a certificate. The Department of Communication extends congratulations and thanks to these students for their superior academic efforts and accomplishments.
Jake Dionne, assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the U of A, was awarded the 2024 Thomas L. Veenendall Lambda Pi Eta Advisor of the Year Award from the National Communication Association.
The original chapter of Lambda Pi Eta began at the U of A in 1985 under the direction of professor Steve Smith. It was subsequently chartered into a national organization, receiving the official sanction of the National Communication Association. The name, Lambda Pi Eta, represents the first letters in Greek of the three types of proofs that Aristotle presented in his teachings of rhetoric. They include Logos (Lambda), Pathos (Pi) and Ethos (Eta). Currently, Lambda Pi Eta has more than 500 active chapter affiliates worldwide.
