#GivingTuesday Donors Raise More Than $28,000 to Support Fulbright College Students
The results are in, and because of 61 Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences #GivingTuesday donors, together we raised more than $28,000 to help students reach the BRIGHT futures of their dreams.
“This surpassed our wildest hopes and will help so many amazing, deserving students to succeed, no matter what they are currently facing,” said Todd Shields, dean of Fulbright College. “Thank you so much for supporting our students!”
The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving – known as #GivingTuesday – is a nation-wide day of online giving to support a variety of organizations and causes.
For the first time ever, Fulbright College participated in #GivingTuesday on Dec. 1, 2020 and every dollar raised is now part of the Fulbright College Dean’s Emergency Student Retention Fund to help students achieve their educational goals when facing unforeseen financial challenges.
#GivingTuesday raised more than $18,000 for the fund, which because of a unique matching opportunity, unlocked an additional $10,000 for a total of more than $28,000 raised – all to do what Fulbright College aims to do best: help students.
The fund will use those gifts to provide unrestricted resources to undergraduate and graduate students who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which will help the college be able to respond to students’ individual needs more quickly.
“Because of our #GivingTuesday donors, students who might have had to drop out after experiencing pandemic-related job loss now will instead be able to graduate,” Shields said. “And students who were facing unforeseen medical expenses or food insecurity will now have the resources they need to thrive.”
“On behalf of our entire Fulbright College family, please allow me again to offer our deepest gratitude and appreciation for your support, commitment, and passion for helping students succeed,” Shields said.
