In his own words:
Dear Dr. Richardson,
I would like to express hearty thanks to you as the donor for your generosity in funding the Charles B. Richardson Senior Fellowship here at the University of Arkansas.
This scholarship has changed my life more than you know and has released me of a lot of financial burden, especially for my final year. This scholarship offer allows me to take out less in financial aid loans which ultimately decreases my student debt and makes my life much easier after college graduation.
I am a young man who was born in Colorado Springs, CO but grew up my entire life on the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. I attended the illustrious Presentation Brothers College where I received my high school diploma and I then followed up my educational career by getting an Associate Degree in Natural Sciences at the Theophilus Albert Marryshow Community College.
I come from a small nuclear family where I lived with my mother, father, and younger brother. At this point they are all back in the Caribbean. My interests include reading, music and ultimately learning new skills and I chose the University of Arkansas due to its illustrious history as well as its top–of–the–line geophysics program.
Currently, I am a senior majoring in geology with a concentration in geophysics, physics with a concentration in geophysics and a minor in mathematics and I am hoping to pick up a physics with a concentration in electronics major if time permits me to.
This scholarship will help me financially and academically because it allows me to have less of an economic strain for this upcoming school year by paying less for school and having to take out less in student loans. Furthermore, it helps me academically because it shows me that my hard work is being rewarded and I must strive to be better each time.
To conclude, thank you again for your generosity in funding this scholarship and it is my hope that I will be able to be as generous as you someday in funding one as well.
Sincerely,
Khalil Buckmire
