Giving Thanks: Scholarship Helps Doctoral Student Reach Goal of Becoming a Mathematics Professor

This January, members of our Fulbright College Family are sharing expressions of gratitude, letters of thanks and their appreciation for those who have helped make their educational journey possible. 

Meet Patrick Phelps, who thanks to the Lawrence Jesser Toll Jr. Endowed Scholarship, is one step closer to his dream of being a researcher and securing a professorship at a great university.

Anticipated Graduation: 2023

Major(s)/Minor(s): Mathematics Ph.D.

Activities/Interests: Math Research, President of Math Graduate Student Colloquium, Co-organizer of the Analysis Seminar, avid cook, enjoy watching moving and spending time at home with my cat.

Career Aspirations: I am currently applying for post-doctoral opportunities to continue my research career, and hopefully one day secure a professorship at a great university.

With these proceeds I will be able to support myself as I finish my Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas and continue my application process as I search for my next position for Fall 2023.
