Rogelio Cano

Name: Rogelio Cano

Hometown: Springdale, AR

Anticipated Graduation: 2023

Major(s)/Minor(s): Communication M.A

Activities/Interests: My interests include languages, cinematography, history, politics, writing, and poetry. As a communications major, I got to study and discuss politics, social issues, history, cinema, media, and public speaking. This has evidently been the best choice of study for me. My poetry stems from my own emotional experiences with gender, race, class, and religion. I have been speaking and learning French and Portuguese for a few years now.

Career Aspirations: I aspire to become a lawyer in the entertainment law, civil liberties, and international law fields. I also like teaching and public speaking. I aspire to also be a professor or a high school teacher in a diverse school.

In his own words:

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Wade,

I want to express my gratitude for your generous donation to help fund my education.

It is important to invest in education. It is especially essential to invest in someone you trust so they can excel in their talents and passions.

This gift that you have given me is essentially a sign of your trust and nurture.

This award has inspired me to keep going, to strive to never give up, and to become increasingly ambitious. Ambition and confidence are the key to success.

I am a rising graduate student who aspires to obtain a Master’s in Art in Communication. I plan to specialize in public communication and rhetoric. My interests include learning multiple languages and media literacy.

These special tools help me understand the world, all of its ethnicities, all of its subcultures, phenomena, and aesthetics. I love writing and presenting. I plan to pursue the law field or the teaching field to exercise my interests and skills.

This scholarship will help me academically and financially without a doubt. This scholarship opportunity was also a good way to exercise my skills as a rhetorician, a writer, and a public speaker. It has been some time since I last wrote. I am glad I got to exercise that muscle once again.

Having earned this scholarship also helped me emotionally and spiritually. I got to accomplish something by working hard and simply exercising my skills. This was the inspiration I needed to develop more confidence and self-assurance that I have truly grown as a writer and a student. This opportunity also has a noteworthy name attached to it that can speak volumes on a resume.

Thank you once again for choosing to invest in me and my skills! This means so much to me!

Your trust, your interest, and your generosity have been well received and will invigorate my motivation and confidence that I need to succeed!

When I walk across that stage to receive my M.A., I will remember and be eternally grateful towards the chance and trust you gave me!

Sincerely,
Rogelio Salvador Cano
