Fulbright College Students Gain Hands-On Experience Through Summer Internships
The Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences continues to foster excellence by preparing its students for a variety of careers through opportunities like innovative classes, service learning projects, and student internships.
This summer, multiple students from across the college are participating in internships that provide them with hands-on experience and help them prepare for successful careers.

But first, check out this round up highlighting a few of the many impressive Fulbright College interns who are spending their summers gaining more skills and professional experience.
Natalie Harris
Natalie Harris, a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism, is completing a summer internship at KNWA & FOX24 – Northwest Arkansas & River Valley News. She is shadowing meteorologist Dan Skoff.
“This summer I’ll be learning more about the behind-the-scenes of meteorology and weather reporting,” Harris said. “One day I hope to apply these skills by becoming a meteorologist and weather reporter just like the one and only Dan Skoff!”
Hayley Funk
Hayley Funk
, a student in the School of Social Work, is completing a summer internship with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.
“At my internship with the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, I’ve gained hands-on experience in outreach and resource development, deepening my understanding of how interconnected needs affect individuals and communities,” Funk said. “These experiences have enriched my academic work by providing practical insights I can bring into discussions and assignments, especially in advocacy and policy-focused courses.”
Josh Droll
Josh Droll
, also majoring in broadcast journalism, is completing a summer internship with KUAF 91.3 Public Radio.
“I took a class at KUAF because I was curious about how creating stories for the radio would work,” Droll said. “As I took the class, I developed an affinity for public radio and became an avid listener.”
“This internship will allow me to get real-world experience in my field of broadcast journalism as I close in on my senior year!” he added.
Ayushi Patel
Ayushi Patel
is a freshman majoring in biology on the pre-med track. Patel is completing a summer internship with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) conducting cancer research.
“During my research experience, I have been applying clinical and laboratory skills to perform experiments and design compounds that inhibit CDK7 to prevent cancer cell growth,” Patel said. “Being a pre-med student interested in dermatology, doing cancer research is such an amazing opportunity so I can apply my work to skin cancer trials.”
Veronica Ivester
Veronica Ivester
, a junior majoring in history and Latin American and Latino studies, is completing a summer internship at the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office in Little Rock.
“At my internship with the Attorney General’s Office, some of my responsibilities include helping plan and execute community programs like a missing persons event and fentanyl awareness initiatives, building skills in research, public communication, and event coordination,” Ivester said. “This internship has strengthened my understanding of public service and the legal field, allowing me to explore real-world applications of concepts I’m learning in the classroom.”
Lily Eisold
Lily Eisold, a junior majoring in journalism, also serves as a Fulbright College Creative Services photography intern during the fall and spring semesters. Eisold is completing a summer internship at Rocky Mountain National Park.
“This summer I’m working as a Rocks and Ropes Instructor with the YMCA of the Rockies,” Eisold said. “I belay kids on both indoor and outdoor climbing walls, lead them through the high ropes course, and have earned my CPR and First Aid certifications.”
“I’m also supporting the YMCA’s marketing team by capturing photography and creating content for their social media platforms!” she added.
Miceala Morano
Miceala Morano, a senior studying journalism, is completing an internship with the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
“As a general assignment reporter for the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, I’m covering the Northwest Arkansas and River Valley areas in a fast-paced newsroom,” Morano said. “This opportunity has renewed my passion for local news as a Northwest Arkansas native.”
“I love keeping my community informed about what’s going on around them so they can make better decisions for themselves and their loved ones,” she added.
