Department of Music Professor to Serve as Artist-in-Residence at Ave Maria University
The Department of Music is pleased to announce Moon-Sook Park, associate professor of voice, will embark on an artist-in-residence at Ave Maria University in Fort Myers, Florida, from March 14 to 21, 2024. This residency showcases Park’s skills in vocal performance and pedagogy and reflects the department’s dedication to promoting musical education and talent at both the local and national levels.
Throughout her residency, Park will offer masterclasses in voice and performance, sharing her expertise with students at AMU. Moreover, she will present a guest recital featuring diverse religious and Korean art songs. This event is set to foster collaboration with the host institution’s faculty, including duets with associate professor and department chair Taylor Ferranti, tenor, and a world premiere of “Samogok (Reminiscence of Mother)” by associate professor of composition Seunghee Lee.
Funded by the Henkels Lecture Fund, Park’s residency is an example of the profound academic and cultural exchanges that are hallmarks of the collaborative spirit in music. This initiative seeks to enhance the educational experience by bringing esteemed speakers and professors to share their knowledge and insights. Park’s role as an artist-in-residence is an honor that recognizes her contributions and highlights the transformative role of music education and performance.
