Career Tips with Erica Estes

If you’re anxious about your next steps after graduation, consider enrolling in the Design Your Life 9-week mini session class that begins Wednesday, Oct. 3, 3:05-5:05pm.  I will be co-teaching this class with 2 highly knowledgeable faculty and staff. We will move through the human-centered design thinking process to help students feel more confident about building their plans for the future.  In order to enroll in UNIV 3401, you must email me at ericae@uark.edu before the first class meets. The state of Arkansas is experiencing a serious geographic shortage of teachers; this problem mainly impacts eastern and southern Arkansas. Arkansas Teacher Corps (ATC) exists to alleviate this problem and is searching for undergraduate students from all majors and backgrounds to put their college degrees to use by serving as ATC teaching Fellows for three years after college.  ATC teaching Fellows are granted a standard 5 year teaching license, earn a teaching salary (per district schedules), receive additional bonuses (totaling at least $15k over three years), are subject to other various incentives offered by state and federal programs, are coached and supported as they teach, and are given the opportunity to affect systemic change on a daily basis.

JB Hunt Internship Interview Day: Friday, Oct. 5.  Apply for an internship in their new location in the University of Arkansas Research Park, just moments away from campus. Internships will be offered in technical and non-technical areas. Gain experience managing special projects, working with the industry’s top technology, and become fluent in the language of transportation and logistics. Hiring students from all majors. 

German Career Meeting: Monday, Oct. 8, 7pm in KIMP 210.  German Majors & Minors are invited to Dr. Condray’s session to learn how to improve your chances of getting a job.  

Camp War Eagle Information Table: Outside the Union: Monday, Oct. 1 – Thursday, Oct. 4, 9am – 1pm & Friday, Oct. 5, 8am – 5pm & Outside Brough Dining Hall:  Monday, Oct. 1 – Wednesday, Oct. 3, 9am – 1pm.  This NWA Christian, sports camp is recruiting students for paid summer jobs & internships.  Opportunities to gain experience working with children, teenagers, social services, ministry, recreation, nature/ecology, video production, animal care, and sports. Opportunities also available through the school year with CWE 365 program. Set up an on-campus interview.
