A. Burcu Bayram, professor of international relations for the Department of Political Science, has been elected as the vice president of the Foreign Policy Analysis Section and the Foreign Policy Analysis section chair of the International Studies Association.

Bayram will serve as the vice president for the upcoming year and will assume the role of president of the FPA Section the following year.

Bayram’s election reflects her international and national reputation in the field of international studies and her many contributions to the study of foreign policy-making, promising to bring fresh perspectives and leadership to the FPA Section and to the broader ISA community.

“I am honored to be elected to this major leadership role within the international studies community,” Bayram said. “I look forward to representing diverse, interdisciplinary and multi-methodological global perspectives.”

Bayram specializes in international relations and foreign policy analysis and has established herself as a leading global scholar in her field. She currently serves as the associate editor of the prestigious journal Foreign Policy Analysis. Her research examines the social, cognitive and emotional factors and processes that shape the preferences and attitudes of policymakers and publics over international cooperation in substantive areas of global development, international law and institutions, and diplomatic negotiations. She has published extensively in top academic journals, contributing to the scholarly discourse on the emotional, cognitive and normative factors that shape foreign policy decision-making.

About the International Studies Association: Representing 100 countries, ISA has over 6,500 members worldwide and is the most respected and widely known scholarly association in this field. Endeavoring to create communities of scholars dedicated to international studies, ISA is divided into 7 geographic subdivisions of ISA (Regions), 29 thematic groups (Sections), and 4 Caucuses which provide opportunities to exchange ideas and research with local colleagues and within specific subject areas.

About the Foreign Policy Analysis Section: Foreign Policy Analysis is the second largest section with about 1,200 members devoted to facilitating research and teaching on foreign policy. The Foreign Policy Analysis Section of ISA seeks to foster the study of foreign policy-making and foreign policy behavior.
