James D. and Dona K. Morrison Scholarship in Geology Recipient Camden Rainwater
Name: Camden Rainwater
Hometown: Lewisville, TX
Graduation: 2024
Major(s)/Minor(s): Geology major
Activities/Interests: One of my biggest passions is rock climbing, which I was introduced to when I first came to the University of Arkansas in 2018. Ever since then, it has been one of my favorite past times! I enjoy other outdoor activities like hiking, camping, fishing, and anything else that allows me to connect to nature. I also enjoy tea-making, and over the past few years have learned much about the art and different ways to make tea.
Career Aspirations: I hope to have a career in sustainability or an adjacent field, such as green energy production, or environmental consulting. Any career in which I can use my skills to improve the health of our planet intrigues me.
In his own words:
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Morrison,
Thank you for supporting the James D. and Dona K. Morrison Scholarship in Geology. I was recently notified that I am the 2023 recipient of the James D. and Dona K. Morrison Scholarship in Geology, and I am incredibly grateful for the recognition and support.
I consider it an honor to represent this named award and thank you for your vote of confidence.
I graduated from Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas in 2018, and earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas in May 2022. In the fall, I will be a second-year master’s student pursuing a Master of Science in Geology, along with a Graduate Certificate in Sustainability. Eventually, I’d like to work in either sustainability or environmental consulting.
I also currently serve as a teaching assistant for general geology labs to pay for school and my living costs, but this scholarship award will be a great help to me financially!
Thanks again for giving to Fulbright College and for helping support my education. This college has provided me with a great education, and I really appreciate the opportunities both you and Fulbright College have provided to me.
Sincerely,
Camden Rainwater
