Southern Uribe-Evans Family Awarded Family of the Year
The Southern Uribe-Evans Family of Fayetteville was awarded the 2023 Family of the Year during Family Weekend on Sept. 8-10. Nominated by Amelia Southern Uribe, a junior political science and advertising and public relations double major and sustainability minor, the family was honored at the Arkansas vs. Kent State University game on Saturday, Sept. 9.
“The Associated Student Government is thrilled to present the Southern Uribe-Evans Family as the 26th Razorback Family of the Year,” said Hailey Hoog, ASG vice president. “The Southern Uribe-Evans Family represents the Razorback spirit. Their loyalty to the University of Arkansas is inspiring and truly represents a model Razorback family. They are beyond deserving of this honor and award.”
The Southern Uribe-Evans Family currently has two students attending the U of A.
- Amelia is a junior political science and advertising and public relations double major and sustainability minor. They are involved with the Associated Student Government, the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University Housing, University Programs and Zero Hour Arkansas.
- Talvin is a sophomore music major working on a music industry certificate with an apparel merchandising and product development minor. He is involved with Amplify Music Festival, Ground Waves, the Razorback Chorus and University Programs.
- Their mother, Lia, is an associate dean at the U of A Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, professor at the Department of Music and principal bassoonist of the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra.
Their mother and stepmother, Lia and Lisa Marie Evans, tremendously support the Razorbacks and the university. The family’s commitment, pride and spirit towards the U of A demonstrate why they are truly deserving of this award.
The Associated Student Government and New Student and Family Programs sponsor the annual Razorback Family of the Year. The Family of the Year represents the university as a model Razorback family. The model Razorback family exemplifies the Arkansas spirit and provides exceptional support for their students to succeed at the university.
Associated Student Government is a program in the Division of Student Affairs. New Student and Family Programs is a department in the Division of Student Affairs.
