Department of Communication Finds Success at Festival of Media Arts
Graduate student Devin Chalberg won Best Debut Paper for the Radio & Audio Media Division at the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Ringo Jones, assistant professor in the Department of Communication, along with his collaborator, Lane Kendall (left) from University of Kansas, won the Festival Chair’s Award. They won this award for their augmented reality project titled, “This Art is ALIVE!”
The Festival Chair’s Award recognizes the top faculty creative work for the year and is decided by a committee of competition chairs for each of the festival’s categories. The 2023 Best of Festival winners were selected from a pool of over 1,650 entries from over 300 colleges and universities. Twenty faculty and student works were chosen to receive the BEA “Best of” awards. It is the highest honor bestowed for creative work at BEA.
Jones and Kendall also won Best of Festival in the Interactive Media & Emerging Technology category.
