Ana Bridges, professor in the Department of Psychological Science, has been elected to serve as the 2024 president of the National Latinx Psychological Association.

For the past two years, Bridges has also served as the organization’s treasurer and acting secretary.

The association’s mission is to “generate and advance psychological knowledge and foster its effective application for the benefit of the Latinx population.” The organization additionally has its own professional journal, the Journal of Latinx Psychology, which is published by the American Psychological Association.

Bridges has been part of National Latinx Psychological Association since 2016. She regularly attends their annual conferences, presenting research on addressing mental health care disparities in the U.S.-residing Latinx population.

Bridges and her students have also partnered with local primary care clinics such as the Community Clinic to make behavioral health care accessible to low-income and underserved people in Northwest Arkansas.

Her training program in culturally and linguistically responsive integrated care has been funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since 2010.
