As 2022 comes to a close, all of us here at the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences wish you and yours a Ful-BRIGHT holiday season filled with cheer!

We also hope the new year brings you joy, and that you know how much we appreciate each of you who make up our amazing Fulbright College family.

Additionally, I hope you’ll enjoy diving into this December 2022 edition of our Fulbright REVIEW, which highlights some of the many fantastic folks who make our college such a special place.

First up, we’ve got some exciting news – the Board of Trustees recently appointed our own Charles F. Robinson as our new chancellor! Help us congratulate him, and then be sure to check out his “First 100 Days” Plan, too.

In other big news, we have a new chair of our Department of Biological Sciences, we recently broke ground on our Fine Arts Center restoration, and our student-run record label just released its second EP!

Additionally, one of our professors is touring with the iconic musical Hamilton, the Arkansas Global Changemakers released a new podcast season with KUAF, and our college is home to the first student to receive the McDonald’s HACER Scholarship.

We also had one of our faculty members participate in an exploration of the U.S. Constitution in a big way with a big interview, and the U of A was named a top 40 institution for study abroad opportunities!

It’s been a busy semester, which also included a recent salute to campus veterans, the launch of a new “Second-Year Experience” course, and multiple faculty members completing a micro-credential in inclusive and supportive learning.

After checking those stories out, you can also meet a student who presented at The Legacies of American Slavery Conference, four saxophone students who swept a state woodwind competition, and a mathematician with new theories on the origin of life on Earth-like planets!

Next, meet two students who were named finalists for the prestigious Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships, and a cross-cultural mentor who helps international students.

You can also help congratulate this professor on her new book exploring gender identity, and this amazing teaching duo who are both retiring after more than 20 years of service.

Then, meet Patricia Rodriguez, Chandler Nichols, and Aliera Konett, who thanks to three scholarships and the donors who created them, are each one step closer to making their educational and career dreams come true!

Finally, if you’d like to learn more about the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.

And, as always, we’ll keep providing you with more new stories at fulbrightreview.uark.edu. We hope you’ll stay tuned.

In the meantime, please keep in touch, take care and be well!

Sincerely,

Kathryn Sloan
