Welcome to the May 2022 Round Up of the Fulbright REVIEW Blog
I’m so excited that we’ve once again reached my most favorite time of the year – commencement season, when we get to celebrate all our fantastic new alumni!
A big congratulations to our Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences graduates of the Class of 2022!
The May Fulbright REVIEW showcases some of these phenomenal folks, along with more of our outstanding student, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members who are doing amazing things to better our world.
To kick things off, check out all the fun ways we’ve been recognizing the Class of 2022 and get the behind-the-scenes details of this past weekend’s Commencement ceremonies.
Then, meet a rockstar non-traditional graduate who is a single father heading to medical school after becoming the first in his family to complete college, and another new alumna who is Arkansas’ first Black rodeo queen!
Next, get to know more of our new graduates like this one who started an ice cream business to fund meals for those in need, and this one who is a talented designer on our college communications team.
May is also Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, so be sure to see how we’ve been celebrating, and then visit the Pryor Center for The Juke Joint Project: An Exhibit, which is an authentic walk-through replica of this kind of music venue!
Afterward, meet four of our fantastic faculty members who are the first at the U of A to earn the complete Association of College and University Educators certification, and a geoscientist who was awarded a prestigious International Explorers Grant to analyze the massive sand dunes of Southern Jordan.
You can also help us congratulate two top STEM students named 2022 Goldwater Scholars, and a social work professor who was honored for her work with survivors of sexual violence.
Next, meet two of our incredible advising team members, who both won awards for their service to our students, and these psychological sciences researchers who found people recall information better when it is related to a stressful event.
Additionally, meet this senior majoring in trumpet performance and music education who just won an esteemed scholarship, and help our communication department recognize its outstanding undergraduates, graduates and alumni!
Finally, if you’d like to learn more about the extraordinary people, initiatives, projects and activities that make up Fulbright College, please visit our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Our handle is @uarkfulbright on all three.
