Fulbright College Celebrates Spring 2022 Graduates With Ceremonies and Digital Features
This month, more than 4,400 graduates became the University of Arkansas’ newest alumni during the 2022 Spring Commencement ceremonies – and about a fourth of them are from very our own Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.
The ceremonies consisted of eight separate events spread across the two days, including Fulbright College’s ceremony on May 13 and the All-University Graduate Students ceremony on May 14. American radio and television personality and two-time New York Times bestselling author Bobby Bones also received an honorary doctorate from the U of A during the All-University ceremony.
“It’s been a remarkable year for us on many fronts – but it is the accomplishments of our students that we celebrate the most, for they are the reason the University of Arkansas exists,” said Interim Chancellor Charles Robinson.
“While the end of the academic year offers a powerful reminder of our charge to improve lives through education, discovery and service, this is also an important moment to take stock of our work ahead. As a university, we have spent much of the last year marking the 150th anniversary of our founding. Now, we look forward to the next 150 years and all that our community can and must accomplish,” he said.
Graduates were also recognized through the U of A’s 2022 Commencement website, which features a graduation app, a virtual Senior Walk tour and a social media feed featuring posts from people using the university’s commencement hashtag #UARK22.
Videos of the live-streamed 2022 spring commencement ceremonies are also available on the U of A’s YouTube channel.
Likewise, the Fulbright College commencement website included a message from Dean Todd Shields, a complete list of our Spring 2022 graduates, and information about our college’s featured student speaker, Sabrina Jones.
As Dean Shields said, “On behalf of our faculty, staff and entire U of A community, we offer you a big congratulations, Class of 2022 – you did it!”
“You survived the late-night study sessions, the group projects, the times of uncertainty and so much more – including this strange and unprecedented pandemic time,” he added.
“And, you’ve grown in the face of these obstacles, you’ve adapted, and your resiliency has brought you to this moment,” he said.
“You’ve worked so hard for so long, and now you’ve reached the graduation milestone you’ve been striving for.”
“Please take a moment to reflect on just how momentous this is, on just how amazing this accomplishment is, on all it took to get to this moment, and all the incredible potential your future holds! Congratulations graduates!”
